Whether you decide to be at home with the family, at a party, in Times Square (does anyone actually enjoy that shit?), or whatever, I wish you all a very happy New Year.

I noticed some others here will be at shows. Anyone else going to a show? I'll be seeing DSO. I've seen them many times and I really enjoy the band with Jeff Mattson and look forward to seeing what kind of setlist they'll put together for the show.

So, where will you be? If it's not something interesting, make it up!

Trying to sleep and cursing the neighbors for the fireworks. That's O.K., every New Years' morning I lay on the horn on the way to work at 5 am through the neighborhood. :)

I am driving from NY to Montclair today for the two DSO shows at the Welmont tonight and tomorrow. I am very excited--two 3-set shows! And DSO sure does it for me!! Happy and healthy New Years to all--no matter what you do!

Two nights with DSO sounds like a fine time – enjoy!
I will be seeing the new year in with Jatoba in Brattleboro, VT and maybe a stroll or two down the block for Flabberghaster.

I will be at a wedding. I don't know hardly any of the people, but my wife used to work with the bride. Most of the guests are in their mid 20's, and I'm in my mid 40's, so I'll hopefully be able to pick up some new dance moves and not em-bare-ass my wife too much. Sounds like it will be fun, even if I'm to be the designated driver. It will be the first NYE we've had out since before our oldest was born - 10 years ago. The kids will be sleeping over at Granny and Granddad's house.

In Dead-related news, I've loaned my Closing of Winterland DVD for the weekend to a work-mate who I may be slowly turning on to the Dead. Every couple of days I try to play an hour or so of Grateful Dead at work, and he has liked it right from the start, and even recognizes the sound when I put one on. "That's the Grateful Dead, right?" He's in his mid-50's, English, and never knew about them, but heard the name and thought it must be awful based on the name of the band. He and his wife never go out anymore, just stay in, have a few drinks and watch TV. He said he's looking forward to watching the DVD. We have a lot of common ground in classic rock listening, especially Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. As it turns out, he grew up down the road from Mick Jagger's mum, and used to see him in the neighborhood sometimes when Jagger was home for a visit to the old dear. He remembers it was a real nice car that Jagger drove.

There aren't any bands playing locally that I want to see, so I'll be at home disturbing my neighbors with my stereo.

Huh, coincidentally, I will be laying on my back with my
mouth wide open in Robs bed when the ball
(only one Hitler?) drops. So you are really not "wrong".
At least in this sense of the word 'wrong' you are not...
I can't speak for others.

Dennis - are you back in NY for New Year's or still in Manteo? Keller Williams and the Pimps of Joytime are at the NORVA tomorrow night - if you are still down this way we should grab that show.

If not, there is a good line-up coming in January.

Either way, Happy New Year. Shoot me an email off line when you can.

How highly do you rate Keller and a Pimps of Joytime show? I ask because I'm in Emerald Isle and see they are playing Wilmington for New Years. Since the folks can watch the kid, was thinking about taking the ex-girlfriend (aka the wife) to that show but having only seen Keller once in a solo acoustic setting don't really know what to expect.

I have never seen the two together, but judging from what I have seen at other shows, it sounds like it is going to be a good time. The show is being billed as "Two full sets, Kdubalicious" on the NORVA website.

As an interesting aside, KW is doing a Kid's Matinee earlier in the day tomorrow. Here is some info (also from the NORVA website) - not sure how old yours is, but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun no matter how old you are.

Enjoy your New Year's and be safe.

At the Jeff in Charlottesville watching the Infamous Stringdusters.

Unless Mrs. Mando says I can't go. Then I will likely be asleep.
